Downtime, remediation, and data recovery are the most significant costs of a ransomware attack. We can help! CloudAlly Backup comprehensively protects your business data from loss with immutable backups that are stringently secure, encrypted, and compliant with HIPAA and GDPR.
This article will explain the practical steps you can take to rebound after a ransomware or malware attack.
The Simple Approach
When ransomware or malware strike, the simplest way to return to normal is to turn the clock back – to restore your backed up data from the date immediately before the attack.
- Assess the damage done to your data or environment before you begin the recovery steps. See articles by experts in the subject, such as this one.
- From the Homepage, click Recovery.
3. Select the entity (mailbox, site, team etc.) you would like to recover.
4. In the Via Snapshot section, pick a snapshot date prior to the data corruption incident.
NOTE: Be careful about selecting the data to restore, ensuring that it is NOT infected.
5. Check the snapshot you would like to restore, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click Restore.
6. Use your anti-virus software to scan the data for ransomware or malware, otherwise the data could become re-infected.
And like magic, your unharmed data will be restored to your account, and you can continue working productively.
When the Simple Approach Isn’t Enough
If your entire Exchange mailbox, SharePoint or OneDrive Site, or set of Teams/Groups has been impacted, the simple approach won’t suffice. In that case, follow the steps in this document for each Microsoft 365 service to restore your mailbox, site, or Team, before you recover your data.
