Introduction
While CloudAlly offers numerous data centers in which customers can store their backed up data, it also enables customers to use their own storage locations when they are outside of geo-regions that have data centers. BYOS does not save the customer money or give them complete ownership of their data, so it is always best to use CloudAlly's data centers when possible.
Limitations of Using BYOS
- CloudAlly cannot provide unlimited retention and storage as part of the backup service if BYOS is selected.
- Because the backed up data is encrypted, the customer must maintain a CloudAlly subscription to access it. If the customer leaves, CloudAlly charges to export all of the data.
- CloudAlly cannot access Government cloud storage in the US.
Supported BYOS types:
- AWS S3 or S3 compatible storage types (wasabi).
- Azure blob storage
Partners
When Partners set up a new customer, they can set up BYOS for them in the Partner Portal.
